20th TECHNO-CLASSICA ESSEN from 26 to 30 March 2008:
The Classic Fair of the Superlatives

AUDI

Walter Röhrl, multiple rally world champion, has described short and precisely the acceleration of the highlight of the Audi exhibition stand in hall 7, the Audi Quattro Sport in the rally version in the Audi rally film "The New Dimension": "If you accelerate in the sixth gear at a speed of 180 km/h it will push you into the seat as if you are accelerating from 30 to 50 in a powerful series vehicle." The Audi Sport quattro was the most powerful, fastest and tough vehicle Audi has built in the year 1984 for assignment in the rally world cup. As Audi Sport quattro Rallye it has a performance of approx. 450 PS and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds - only insignificantly slower on gravel. In the so-called E2 version it achieves up to 544 HP - only a Pikes Peak special version with approx. 600 HP was more powerful. They all are based on the Audi Sport Quattro, which was introduced 1983 at the IAA.

On the occasion of the 25th birthday of the still 304 HP street version of the Audi Sport Quattro, Audi Tradition brings one of the around 20 application vehicles of the Sport Quattro S1 to the Audi fair stand with a total size of 1,400 square meters in exhibition hall 7 of the TECHNO-CLASSICA. And in order to create the appropriate ambience, Audi Tradition designed a complete rally service point. You can see the rally films of Audi, which partly have been awarded, along with original rally utensils and cups from Audi's rally time of the nineteen eighties.

The actual jubilee car, the Audi Sport quattro in the street version which was produced with 220 exemplars only in the year 1984 will be represented with five cars at the Audi exhibition stand - namely in each of the available colours: tornado red, Copenhagen blue, malachite green, Alpine white, and in addition one of both vehicles coated black on request of Ferdinand Piech. As a special attraction, members of the Audi Sport quattro Club will come visiting at one trade fair day and present at the Audi stand an additional number of five to ten vehicles which are known to connoisseurs simply as "the short". The date and the exact number of the club vehicles additionally appearing at the TECHNO-CLASSICA was not determined at the time going to press.

The performance of the Zwickau August Horch Museum and the club presentation is a good tradition for Audi. The space apportioning of the largest company fair stand shows the importance Audi attributes to the club scene and how it supports it: Audi Tradition occupies "only" 540 square meters, while the remaining 860 square meters are available for the August Horch Museum and the clubs.

The clubs are good for a surprise in every year: this year the Audi Club International (ACI), the Auto Union Veteran's Club (AUVC) and the NSU Club come up with interesting topics. Their presentations are so interesting that even their visit alone is worthwhile to see the Audi fair stand.
