The Worlds Greatest Classic Car Show

March 21 - 25 2012

Essen, Germany

2011 Event - 178,300 visitors from 41 countries! 1200 exhibitors from 28 countries! Over 110,000 square metres of exhibition floor space in 17 halls! Approximately 2500 automobiles for sale! Over 130 presentations from clubs and museums!

Audi Tradition will start at TECHNO-CLASSICA 2012 with the theme "Bergrennen" (Mountain Race). At the time this information went to press, it was not finally decided on the selection of the vehicles to be displayed, however, it was announced that the exhibits include some spectacular and legendary vehicles.

These include:
· the Audi Sport quattro S1 Pikes Peak - the car with 598 HP, which fueled Walter Röhrl so strongly that in 1987 - 25 years ago - he did not only win the legendary mountain race by seven seconds, but also was the first driver in the "race to the clouds", who climbed the mountain with a height of 4,301 metres in a time below eleven minutes.
· the Auto Union C-type - the Monoposto, which in 1936 was the most successful Grand Prix racing car. It completed three of five Grand Prix, half of the circuit track races and all mountain races with the participation of Auto-Union. The race car was used with twin-tyres to keep the enormous power of its approx. 520 HP on the ground.
· the Audi Alpensieger C-type, manufactured in 1919, the oldest automobile from the collection of Audi Tradition. The car was launched in 1912 - exactly 100 years ago. The automobile equipped with a 40 HP four-cylinder engine received its byname "Alpensieger" (Alpine Winner) due to several wins of the legendary Alpine race in the years 1912, 1913 and 1914, in those years one of the most demanding automobile races.
· a NSU 1300 TT of 1972, as used by many private drivers for numerous mountain races - and still is used.
· a DKW F 12, which in a tuned version was popular for private drivers in the mid-1960s as an economically-priced competition car, with a twin-stroke engine capable of a strong spurt.

In addition, other automobiles as well as DKW and NSU motorcycles will be on display at the exhibition area of 700 square metres.

While Audi Tradition again present their vehicles in exhibition hall 7, the different brand clubs can be seen under the umbrella of the Audi Club International (ACI) this year for the first time in hall 7.1. The umbrella organisation with the Audi clubs and all clubs of the previous brands combined in it, is always good for spectacular surprises. Also this year, the clubs will certainly provide some eye-catchers.

Already a tradition, the Audi museum from Ingolstadt with a shop and the August Horch Museum from Zwickau will participate again. There will also be plenty of information at the Audi stand: a competent staff from Audi Tradition Parts will be available for all questions concerning classic spare parts for Audi cars and collectors' vehicles of the previous Audi brands Wanderer, Horch, DKW and also NSU.

Important information for collectors of model cars: Audi Tradition again offers an annual model car on a scale of 1:43 in a limited edition of 333 examples in orange from the Thursday of the show. The type of the model will be announced only shortly before the opening of TECHNO-CLASSICA.
