Giants of the Road under One Roof

Also this year, the TECHNO-CLASSICA presents a spectacular special exhibition of historic motor trucks - celebrating a small anniversary:
The perfectly restored trucks fifth are presented for the fifth time already,
for the third time in exhibition hall 1A, directly adjacent to the southern entry of the fair grounds.

What do the super sports cars from pre-war time as a Mercedes-Benz 540 K special Roadster and heavy-duty trucks of the post-war period like a Krupp Titan have in common? The answer is surprising: it is the important design characteristics. Both - the million-Euro sports car as well as the truck with the engine-bonnet - come up with sportive styling attributes, like a long motor hood and a slightly arrow-shaped, divided windscreen with chromium and aluminium frame respectively.

There is another thing both classic vehicles which are so different with regard to their dimensions, have in common: both the elegant sports cars and the bulky trucks have gathered a community of enthusiasts who are not afraid to spend lots of money to buy them, restore them and enjoy them by driving. Particularly the commercial vehicle scene has considerably changed during the past two decades: The truck enthusiasts are not content any more to keep their "giants of the road" in a halfway satisfactory condition: there is a clear trend towards top-reconstructed concours trucks over the past years, which despite of their neat appearance still are of practical utility value. The acquisition and restoration of such classic giants often costs a fortune in the range of hundred thousands of Euros.

Since five years already, the TECHNO-CLASSICA presents a selection of the most beautiful, most spectacular and most rare motor trucks from the classic commercial vehicle scene in a special exhibition - with great success: the particular topic-related trucks, fire engines and special application vehicles always turn out to be crowd pullers. For the third time in a row, they are among the highlights of the TECHNO-CLASSICA exhibition hall 1A directly adjacent to the south entry of the Essen fair grounds.

As in the past two years, "alga Nutzfahrzeug- und Baumaschinen GmbH" from Sittensen is arranging the special motor truck show also this year. "alga" is one of the largest dealers for such vehicles and the show is staged in close cooperation with S.I.H.A., the organiser of the TECHNO-CLASSICA. There will be a spectacular setting with truck highlights from the vast alga collection from 26 to 30 March. The topic of the presentation and the selection of the motor trucks shown was not yet determined. However, there will be a fascinating show also this year: the truck enthusiasts are quickly responsive when the selection is made between the possible topics - after all they are experts in quickly moving big items.
