20th TECHNO-CLASSICA ESSEN from 26 to 30 March 2008:
The Classic Fair of the Superlatives

Largest Spare Part Inventory for Original Parts

From Accumulator to Zinc plug: the most important manufacturers are offering original parts for vintage and young classic cars at the classic world fair. Thus, one of the essential concerns of owners of vintage cars can be satisfied: finding original spare parts for their favourite.

The automobile manufacturers and the supplying industry have long recognised vintage cars as a flagship for the brand and as attractive mainstay of turnover. Thus, manufacture and reproduction of original parts for vintage and young classic cars booms. All important manufacturers concentrated on parts supply for classic cars are represented at the TECHNO-CLASSICA, including Daimler, BMW, Porsche, VW and Ferrari, but also suppliers as e.g. Bosch, Würth and Thyssenkrupp-Bilstein. The TECHNO-CLASSICA thus also is the most important market for historic vehicle mechanics "ex works".

Mercedes Benz is one of the trailblazers for the range of spare part supply for vintage and young classic cars. Since its establishment in the year 1993, the Classic Center is taking care of the satisfaction of the great demand for vintage car parts for Mercedes-Benz classic cars, themed "More original is impossible" - and is represented at the TECHNO-CLASSICA ever since its existence. The factory stand with the star in exhibition hall 1 does not only deal with new old stock parts (NOS parts), i.e. new, factory packaging parts of former manufacture, but also with reproductions. Numerous spare part items were reproduced for the Classic Center in the 15 years of its existence. In many cases the Stuttgart company still is able to revert to the original tools from the series production. The strict selection criteria for the meanwhile about 150 suppliers - often even the original manufacturers of the components - ensure the original quality and originality of the spare part already in the initial stage of a reproduction.

The historic department "Ferrari Classiche" of the sports car manufacturer from Maranello is represented at the TECHNO-CLASSICA since three years, namely in exhibition hall 3. Established in 2006, Ferrari Classiche - next to restoration and certification - also attends to the complete supply of all classic cars with the jumping horse. If no original spare parts should be on stock, Ferrari itself reproduces the parts required for repair of a historic Ferrari or orders them from an authorised supplier according to original drawings.

BMW in hall 12 also has a large information booth on the issue "Parts & Service". The classic department has constantly enlarged its delivery program for spare parts since its establishment in the year 1994. More than 20,000 items are meanwhile available for the post-war vehicles with their white-blue emblem. At the TECHNO-CLASSICA the company from Munich shows how serious it takes the spare part supply for vintage cars. BMW staff members will explain on-site how to handle the online parts catalogues.

The department "Porsche Classic Original Parts" at the factory stand of the Zuffenhausen company demonstrates the range of available mechanical parts for classic Porsche cars. Particularly for the earlier models Porsche's program covers lots of reproductions - from the "wiper cap" for the 356 to the boot panel for the 356 B-T5 to the intermediate shaft for the 356 Carrera 587 1/2.

The Volkswagen-Audi Classic Parts Center (CPC) established in 1997 on the initiative of the Volkswagen Auto Museum also presents itself and its services in hall 7. The CPC supplies spare parts both for air-cooled and water-cooled young classic cars and vintage cars of the Volkswagen brand, which are no longer available via Volkswagen's regular spare part distribution. Meanwhile the Classic Center (CPC) has available more than 40,000 items for Volkswagen models of more than 15 years of age.

Also the component suppliers got busy in the scene for young classic cars and vintage cars - as for example Bosch. Bosch Automotive Tradition, established in 2005, offers a comprehensive range of original spare parts in Bosch quality via parts lists and parts enquiries up to repair and reproduction of spare parts in small series. This year the Swabian supplier presents its new ebay shop "Bosch Classic Parts Agency". By means of the Bosch Classic Online Databases and the specialists on-site, visitors of the TECHNO-CLASSICA also can find out how e.g. the ignition distributor of their VW Beetle or the Bosch diesel injection pump in their Mercedes-Benz 190 Diesel has to be adjusted.
