| Techno Classica Essen March 26 - 30 2008. VIP, Preview day March 26. 20th
TECHNO-CLASSICA ESSEN from 26 to 30 March 2008: AUTO MUSEUM VOLKSWAGEN FOUNDATION AND VOLKSWAGEN-AUDI CLASSIC PARTS CENTER While Volkswagen at its exhibition stand presents with the VW Scirocco one of the most popular and demanded coupés in the nineteen-seventies and eighties, the Auto Museum Volkswagen Foundation takes a step back in terms of history, presenting the predecessor model of the Scirocco, the VW Karmann-Ghia coupé of the 1966 series. The object of desire at a museum exhibition stand directly adjacent to the Volkswagen boot his one of the rare special models with ivory paintwork, black roof and interior equipment named "Pigalle", with red carpets, red seats, red steering wheel and even a red gearshift lever. The Volkswagen-Audi Classic Parts Center (CPC) established in 1997 on the initiative of the Volkswagen Auto Museum also presents itself and its services in hall 7. The CPC supplies spare parts both for air-cooled and water-cooled young classic cars and vintage cars of the Volkswagen brand, which are no longer available via Volkswagen's regular spare part distribution. In most cases this is a matter of original parts which are no longer available in the normal scope of delivery which are not produced any more. Furthermore the assortment cobers spare parts from Mexican and Brazilian Volkswagen production as well as high-class new issues from German manufacture. Meanwhile the Classic Parts Center (CPC) has available more than 40,000 stock items of parts for air and water cooled Volkswagen models more than 15 years of age. As only a very small part of stock can be showed in reality, the Volkswagen spare parts experts are realising an interesting idea in order to show at least figuratively, what is stored in the CPC spare part shelves in the Theodor-Heuss-Strasse in Wolfsburg: they removed all useful parts from a VW Scirocco of the second generation and arranged them around the car at the exhibition stand of the TECHNO-CLASSICA. A visit of the CPC stand is worth a while, but not just because of this interesting collage: the CPC also offers detailed insight into their delivery programme. |
