VOLKSWAGEN COMMERCIAL VEHICLES

Only few people know: Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge (VWN) is an own brand of the Volkswagen group for commercial vehicles - and this already since 1 January 2002. The story of the VW commercial cars however starts much earlier, in fact at 23 April 1947, when the Dutch VW importer Ben Pon was drawing a layout into his notebook. This layout formed the basis of the classic VW delivery van, largely better known as VW Bulli, which meanwhile is a legend.

VWN has recognised the value of maintaining tradition and history and laid a foundation for solid brand management on the occasion of the international VW Bus meeting last year, themed "Heritage".
The key data on the Bulli meeting VWN had invited to Hanover in October 2007 convinced even the last sceptics of the consequences of well organised automotive heritage: 60,000 visitors within three days; 4.100 Bullis were registered, but more than 5,000 Bullis finally drove up; 11,500 campers in 3,724 vehicles on 137,000 square metres of parking space, thereof 2,500 campers with 800 buses from abroad and more than 100 exhibition vehicles.

The "Bulli meeting" Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge will arrange during the TECHNO-CLASSICA at its stand of 500 square metres is much smaller though, however quite exquisite. Directly adjacent to the other brands of the Volkswagen group, and all under one roof. However, this performance at the TECHNO-CLASSICA will be a premiere for VWN.

Five significant models from the history of the VW Bulli decorate the area of the commercial cars in exhibition hall 7. In front of all a fire brigade twin cabin - on a very special occasion: 50 years ago VW constructed a first Bulli with twin cabin based on the VW T1, the first transporters series which can be recognised by means of the divided windscreen. Other Bulli rarities include a Westfalia campmobile converted to a music bus. It is owned by a father & sin combo named "Druids Brew". They will entertain visitors of the TECHNO-CLASSICA with guitar music and songs. Congenial live entertainment is offered at the commercial vehicle stage anyhow: Dieter Kreutzkamp for instance, journalist, adventurer and globetrotter, drives up in a Westfalia campmobile, giving an account of his off-road adventures with a Bulli with exciting stories.
